El Hierro
El Hierro Diving Holidays
I’ve found heaven on earth!
Its at the end of the world – or so they believed until Columbus discovered America. The zero meridian was established here and remained until 1860 when it was repositioned at Greenwich. Have you found it yet?
Only 25 miles North to South the Island of El Hierro nevertheless enjoys the best of all possible worlds. Pine forests at 5,000 ft, a green plateau with cattle and stone walls, and milk churns in the lanes. Banana and pineapple plantations. Grape vines, fig, orange and olive trees, and finally the coastline with all year tropical sunshine…….and No Tourists !
La Restinga
Is a tiny seaside fishing village at the Southern tip of the Island, located on the “Mar de la Calmas” (Tranquil Sea) which is a maritime reserve.Your seafront apartments are 3 minutes walk from the Dive Centre. In between is “El Bar” the only bar on the little promenade. It’s a further 3 minutes walk to the dive boat – and 10 minutes maximum boat ride to any of the 27 dive sites. This is Paradise!
The Diving
The Dive Centre facilities are excellent and with two large RIBS there is capacity for 20 divers. NITROX is free and gear rental is very cheap. One week holidays are available on specified dates from October to May….Flights to Tenerife are available from Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Knock and Belfast. Price 645 Euros.
This is the best Atlantic diving I have experienced. All year round sea temp. 21-24 degrees.Visibility 20m plus with abundant and colourful marine life.
